“Towards the total human development of street children, their families and their respective communities”
Reception and Temporary Shelter
Under this program, the child/boy is provided with the basic necessities for a decent life. He enjoys temporary stay, adequate feeding, clothing, medical attention, regular outings and time for sports and recreation, value formation, character building, creative development through tutorial and remedial learning sessions, while he stays at the center and while the social worker tries to locate the child’s natural parents or relatives and facilitates reunification and reestablishment of family bonding.
Residential Care and Training
If the child’s parents and/or relatives could not be located or if the environment is not yet conducive to re-unite the child with the parents and/or relatives and the child is still at risk, he continues to stay at the center and continues to receive the same amenities. If he is ready for formal schooling, he is enrolled at the nearby public schools at the expense of the center.
Post-Residential Care
When the child is reunited with the family, he is still assisted by SENDEN HOME by way of educational support, which is to provide him the basic needs to continue his schooling, like tuitions, school projects, transportation to and from schools and food allowance. This means educational subsidy so as to sustain the formal schooling of the child. This program is carried out in tandem with the concerned family, viz., partnership with the parents and/or relatives.
Grown-up League
This program has the semblance of the post-residential care. It is a follow-up on former Senden Home boys who have settled down or who have started to lead their own independent life. It is a follow-up program whereby former Senden Home boys are assisted to organize themselves with the end-purpose of helping each other, rather than depending still on Senden Home. It is also a program whereby they in turn assist Senden Home to carry on its programs and services, viz., sponsoring a child and/or volunteer works in behalf of Senden Home.
Services Proper
